A4 at Edinburgh

This is a pic I did for my Grandads birthday which was last week. Me and my Grandad are very close, always have been, but we don't live particularly close to each other, which is something that I have always regretted and is sadly, beyond my control.
However, at one point I recalled him telling me about his journey from Kings Cross up to Edinburgh behind an A4 class Pacific back in the days when he was in the Scots Guards. So, I knew I had to draw him an A4, and I had to draw it in Edinburgh Waverly station. Sadly, the only pic I had of Edinburgh Waverly didn't have an A4 in it, it had an A1 in it instead. So I had to transplant the A4 in, but...what would I call the A4? Mallard? Avocet? No...no, I found an A4 which ran in the BR days, which was perfect for the role, considering the recent events.

A little postscript to this story, sadly my Grandad passed away in December 2012 after a long battle with various ailments, in particular his mobility. My Nan is now in a care home, suffering from Allzheimers, and so my Dad and Uncle are sorting out the flat they used to live at before it goes on the market. I got an envelope today from my Dad with a selection of pictures I'd given my Grandad over the years, including this one. It was rather emotional to hold it in my hands again. I miss him...very much.
